Created in late 2003 by David Parks, the vision of DARK FOREST remains to create an epic style of atmospheric metal fuelled by a connection with heritage, history and nature.

Parks began the initial writing process in late 2003 with songs such as Among Silent Pine, Warwinds, and Under The Northern Fullmoon. The writing process continued from here until early 2005. A four track demo was arranged and released that summer and titled Demo 2005. It received many positive reviews, and was also hailed one of the most promising demos of that year by reviewers.

Demo 2005 broke out into the Canadian and international metal community in summer 2005 and gained much respect and support with sales reaching from Germany to Japan. Parks continued the writing process and laid the groundwork for the first full-length DARK FOREST album. Interest also grew in Europe during this time and media labeled early DARK FOREST releases as ‘Vinlandic Pagan Black Metal’. With this said, there is no formal genre which Parks wishes to be bound to. March 2006 marked the completion of the writing process for the first full-length album Aurora Borealis. It was self-recorded by Parks in summer 2006 and released in September 2006.

Windrider began its life as the home studio project of seventeen year old Elliot Vernon in 2008. The name Einherjer is taken from Norse mythology, Einherjer is a Viking’s life after death. When a Viking was slain in battle, he was brought to Valhalla by the Valkyries, to join the army of Einherjer and assist the Gods in their clash against the Giants in the age of Ragnarok.

Nothgard was founded in 2008 by Dom and Toni. After a few months of jam sessions, they started to work on their own songs. Of course there was an indispensable need for a bassist and rhythm guitar. Viktor joined the band as man responsible for the pressure. Isochronicly with Chris (rhythm guitar), Lena became member of the band, giving the songs a symphonic touch by playing the keys.

Harald Nævdal, born 6 July 1970, known as Demonaz Doom Occulta, or most widely known simply as Demonaz, is most recognized as the once-guitarist and chief lyricist for the Norwegian black metal band Immortal.

In Immortal, he is known for his lyrics which, unconventionally for black metal, focus on icy landscapes and a fictional land called Blashyrkh. The story of Blashyrkh is gradually told throughout Immortal’s albums. When writing lyrics he often takes long walks in the Norwegian countryside near his hometown of Bergen for inspiration. He was known for his simplistic but extremely fast guitar parts which were always based around power chords. With Abbath, he formed the core of Immortal until 1997, with members fluctuating otherwise and little stability until Horgh joined the band in 1997.

Demonaz played guitar on the albums Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North, with his last musical contribution to Immortal being the 1997 album Blizzard Beasts. That same year, he was diagnosed with acute tendinopathy, and could no longer play guitar at the speed required for Immortal.

Inspired by nature and Germanic Scandinavian mythology, master mind composer writer Thorleïf, decided to express his passion of history through music. He had this constant vision of a vast land of warriors who fell to combat on a pale moon rising… With this imagery that kept haunting his mind, he went along reading many books and found the ultimate word that would reflect his idea for the band’s name: VALKNACHT!

During the year 2005, Thorleïf what at his early stage of composition and wrote his two first song; “Will of the Aesir Chosen” and the cold opus; “Majesté de l’Hiver”. Assembling permanent members was not an easy task, but everything finally came all together during the summer of 2008. Thorleïf`s dream was taking shape and produced their first demo; “When the Might of the Storm Becomes Mine”. Released from a local label in Quebec City; Les Productions Hérétiques. They soon began doing shows and open for well established names such as Moonsorrow, Swallow the Sun, and Finntroll!!!

Gaining experience and maturity, the band entered the studio during the autumn of 2009 to record their first album; “Chants de Guerre”. Things were not to be done lightly. Thorleïf was not going to deceive his well established growing fans. He summoned none other than Jean Pascal Fournier to do their album cover (Immortal-Edguy-Dragonforce). The amazing sound engineer recording/mixing of the album, was done by Frank “Blastbeat” Fortin (Superior Enlightemment) and the mastering was performed by mighty Jean-Francois Dagenais from Kataklysm.

Wulfshon was brought to life in Argentina, in 2006. But things started to happen a couple of years earlier, back in 2004. In that year Matthias started an unipersonal project that was mainly influenced by Melodic Black Metal and typical/folkloric music from Scandinavia (The lyrical aspect was always focused on the viking values/concepts about the world/universe).

In the begining of 2008, Matthias recorded a promotional EP that was baptized with the name of “Awaiting the Ragnarok” including 2 songs, into the compositive line of Vintersorg and the old Catamenia.

During that same year Wulfshon became a band. The line-up was Matthias W. on Guitar and Clean Vocals, Wolf on Guitar, Dyonisus on Drums, Skoll on bass, and Mauro Frison on lead vocals. The band is planning to record an album this year.

They were formed on June 15 2007 by Kevin Wienerl (vocals), Dominik Hautmann (rhythm guitar), Alexander Göhl (drums), Michael Ney (lead guitar), Fabian Wienerl (Keys / synthesizer) and Christopher Zeus (bass). However, shortly after the realease of their first album, Düsterwald (2008), Christopher Zeus left and was replaced by Florian Striegl.

The story of Helheim started in 1992, when V’gandr and H’grimnir had the mutual idea of creating extreme metal music. But metal cannot be made without someone to fill the drumchair, and soon after Hrymr came along to complete the band. Already from the very beginning Helheim had high ambitions, and even without much experience they weren’t afraid to enter the stage. They played several festivals in Bergen just to get live experience from the start. In the mid of 1993 Nidhogg joined Helheim, and now they felt a demo should see the light of day. The summer went by, and in the fall the same year they released their debut demo simply entitled “Helheim”. The demo never made its way outside the borderlines of Norway as the band realized that the released material simply wasn’t good enough.

Enslaved is a metal band from Bergen, Norway. Their style has changed over the years. Originally being an old-school black metal/viking metal act, they now perform a more experimental and progressive form of black metal. The name was inspired by an Immortal demo track, Enslaved in Rot. Enslaved was formed in 1991, by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson. Joined by drummer Trym Torsson, they did their first demo in the summer of 1992.
