Deafheaven - Roads To Judah

NORTHERN WARRIORS#Style: Atmospheric Black Metal
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Origin: United States of America (California)
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Year: 2011

Based out of San Francisco, CA, deafheaven started as a isolated project between frontman George LeSage and guitarist Kerry M. After sending the demo to various blogs and receiving overwhelmingly positive reception, they accepted offers to play live shows and added members of Whirl and Temple of Saturn to form the quintet that today tours as deafheaven. On July 29th, 2010, deafheaven played their first show, marking the unofficial genesis of their rise to bay area prominence. Within months of forming, they began receiving interest from numerous record labels and officially signed on with Deathwish Records in December of 2010.

Woods Of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason

NORTHERN WARRIORS#Style: Black Metal
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Origin: Australia (Wollongong)
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Lyrics: Sorrow, Darkness, Solitude
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Year: 2011

Woods of Desolation was formed by D. (aka Dolor) in New South Wales, Australia in 2005 as a means of much deeper personal expression/unburdening through music. Utilising the help of P. Knight on vocals (and occasionally bass) located in the UK 2005- early 2007 saw the recording of 2 demos and 2 split releases released in very limited numbers via different underground labels. These early releases explored more the idea of raw improvisation and experimenting with various different self-recording techniques to achieve the final result.

Alcest - Écailles De Lune

NORTHERN WARRIORS#Style: Shoegaze / Black Metal
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Origin: France (Avignon)
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Lyrics: Melancholy, Nostalgia, Beauty
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Year: 2010

Formed in 1999 by French black metal multi-instrumentalist Neige (who also worked with Peste Noire, Mortifera, and Amesoeurs), Alcest was originally conceived as a solo project. It would eventually take on the form of a full band as Hegnor (also of Peste Noire) and Arguth joined the fray and released a four-track demo entitled Tristesse Hivernale in 1999. This demo was a more straightforward black metal affair, much different from what would happen next. After that released, Alcest returned to a one-member format, with Neige moving away from the metal overtones of the three-piece and embracing a more atmospheric approach to his work.

Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs

NORTHERN WARRIORS#Style: Black Metal / Shoegaze
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Origin: France
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Lyrics: Modernity, Urban Life, Depression
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Year: 2009

Organic, introspective metal from Avignon, France, led by Neige (also in Alcest, ex-Mortifera, upcoming Lantlôs, Peste Noire and Phest). The music combines the early/mid-90’s black metal sound with elements of post-punk and female vocals. During the summer of 2004, Amesoeurs was formed by Neige, Audrey Sylvain, and Fursy Teyssier (also of Les Discrets) with the purpose of creating music that reflects the dark side of the industrial era and modern civilization.

Amesoeurs - Ruines Humaines

NORTHERN WARRIORS#Style: Shoegaze/Black Metal
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Origin: France
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Lyrics: Modernity
NORTHERN WARRIORS#Year: 2006

During Summer 2004, Amesoeurs was formed by Neige (also member of Alcest and Peste Noire), Audrey Sylvain and Fursy Teyssier with the purpose of creating music that reflects the dark side of the industrial era and modern civilization.
A few songs were immediately written and the band performed one gig. Shortly after, Fursy Teyssier decided to leave the band to go back to his studies. In April 2005, a first MCD entitled “Ruines Humaines” was recorded. The band sent it to a few labels but had to wait 2006 to see its release through German label Northern Silence Productions. Amesoeurs has worked with the photographer Isabelle Hanssen for the pictures of “Ruines Humaines” and the graphic designer Fursy Teyssier so as to create a visual environment which perfectly suits the music.
