I have try to do a different compilation(folk metal....but too with some band not so folky...for example the song number 9 is neofolk,but it is very interesting,in this second compilation i have put viking metal(so i think that sometimes viking metal is heroic folk metal,heathen metal...etc)
Too i have put to Tyr,(progressive viking metal..due to some person have ask this),and of course some band or sound typical of a zone,orphaned land(oriental,middle-east),balkandji (balkan...etc). And always band like finntroll, elvenking, korpiklaani...etc,and for me the best song of spanish band runic..amazing theme.
Anyway "folk metal more or less" i hope that you enjoy this compilation,and thanks to everybody..

Charon was found in 1992 as a raw conventional yet little significant death metal act. Charon came from small city called Raahe. After three years in an all knobs on ten situation both Charon and their next door neighbours thought it was time for a change. From 1995 to 1996 Charon then slowly developed their style into a much more melodic atmospheric multi-dimensional breed of metal. 1997 - a demo and a video tape later - Charon caught the attention of Danish based Emanzipation Productions. A deal was made and from December 1997 throughout January 1998 Charon recorded ten tracks for their debut album Sorrowburn.

Opeth is a band from Sweden that is renowned for adding varying non-metal elements to their sound and for being influenced by diverse musical styles, ranging from Jazz, 1970s Progressive Rock, Blues and Folk. Vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt is also noted for his singing, utilizing both clean and death growls often times in the scope of one song. Due to their unique blend of melodic and progressive elements, Opeth are often classified separately from more typical Death Metal acts. The name Opeth was taken from Wilbur Smith’s novel Sunbird and derived from Opet, a city of the moon named in the novel.

Norther is a metal band from Helsinki, Finland. The band began in early 1996 under the name of Requiem, and was assembled by guitarist Petri Lindroos and drummer Toni Hallio accompanied by two other musicians. In the beginning, the band suffered from the lack of a proper rehearsal place, but in late 1997, guitarist Alexander Kuoppala, found a suitable place for them to practice at Lepakko; around this time the band decided to change their name from Requiem to Decayed. Their luck was short-lived, however, as their new rehearsal place was soon to be demolished.

Mirrorthrone was born in June 2000 when Vladimir, the sole member of the project, decided to create a more eclectic and symphonic music than what he was used to do in his other musical activities. Two demo CDs were recorded respectively in February 2001 and December 2002. The latter drew the attention of Red Stream Inc. who released in May 2003 the first official Mirrorthrone album entitled “Of Wind and Weeping”, a collection of early recording and demo tracks. This debut CD got an overall positive welcome from the specialized press and other music enthusiasts worldwide.

Formed by András Nagy in the autumn of 1993, the band tries to create an outright original music based on dark elements combined with deep visions presented with sheer brutality - and all enveloped in the softening sound of a trumpet and a synthetiser. Lyrically it is a ride in the afterworld and to places where the human body can not enter only the most seeking soul and persistent spirit. The band’s first demo, entitled “The Pagan Winter”, was released in April 1995. This four-track tape introduced the band to the underground scene and received great responses from all over the world.

In Flames was founded in 1990 by Jesper Strömblad as a side project from his then-current death metal band Ceremonial Oath. Jesper formed In Flames in order to write songs with a more melodic and progressive musical direction, which he was unable to do in Ceremonial Oath.
In 1993, Jesper quit Ceremonial Oath due to musical differences and began focusing more on In Flames. That same year, Jesper (guitar, drums, keyboards) recruited Glenn Ljungström (guitar), and Johan Larsson (bass) to form the first official In Flames line-up.

Sorgsvart´s music is mostly epic in nature and mixes in alot of folk influences with black metal. Some of the lyrical themes deal with anarchism, suicide, agony and hate. Although I cannot interpret the lyrics to his songs, I was immediately drawn to the music.

The music is enchanting at times because of the length of the songs. You really lose track of time when you immerse yourself with the music. At that point you start creating visions in your mind and a musical journey begins. It's kind of like watching a Lord of the Rings movie. Sorg balances different musical elements very well. The harshness of his grim vocals is complimented by his cleaner ones. The music is aggressive at times with the black metal style guitar riffing and drum blast beats, only to switch to more melodic structures and passages using acoustics guitars, keyboards and a variety of Norwegian instruments. There are emotions that range from sad and painful to majestic and proud.

I think VikingTid og AnArki could have sounded bigger with a much more grand production. The drums are a little thin for me and I wish they were a bit more bombastic. I love the guitar sound on this album as Sorg really nails the black metal style. The mixing was done very well where nothing overshadows anything else. The quality of the recording is very good.

I highly recommend VikingTid og AnArki to anyone that is a fan of Epic Viking Folk/Black Metal. It's one of the better ones that I have had the pleasure of experiencing as of late.

As usual this is another original compilation by DamosFog, after her works of power metal 1, the 2 black metal compilations and the last: women of steel (All girl-bands) this one contains 14 great metal covers. I want to remark that my favorite is the track nº 7 "Loosing my religion" I love that cover :) and the bagpipes in track 2... uf i love bagpipes! also thanks for including norther final countdown. Curious the Abba version of Sinergy, well is better you listen to it. If you like this comp. its probably a 2nd version cause this is a bit selection between hundreds of covers. Also you could go to comments and name us any other version you love and probably you'll see it on the next compilation.

Kiuas is a metal band from Espoo, Finland. They have influences from such sub-genres as black metal, power metal and folk metal. The name ‘Kiuas’ is a Finnish word for ‘Sauna Stove’. Name for the band comes from the word ‘Hiidenkiuas’. All the band members are Nordic Pagans, which leads to many of their songs being about Paganistic gods, such as “Ukko”.

The FOREFATHER project was born in September 1997 in Surrey, England by founding members and brothers Athelstan and Wulfstan. The aim was to create powerful and epic Metal tributes to their Anglo-Saxon ancestors, straight from the heart and of the highest quality. Song-writing began immediately for what was to become their debut album "Deep Into Time" and in true underground fashion it was recorded in August 1998 at their home-studio "The Croft" and released in March 1999 by their own label Angelisc Enterprises. The album was well-received by the underground Metal press and by this time album number 2 was already beginning to take shape.
