Initially formed in 2003, Ne Obliviscaris are a 6-piece metal band from Melbourne, Australia consisting of 2 guitars, bass, drums, vocals and violin. Including a vast array of influences within their sound from black to progressive, thrash, death and melodic metal, and even western art music, they create music of many extremes including darkness, light, intensity, melody, brutalist and beauty. At times very technical and complex and at others simple and subtle. Ne Obliviscaris create an extremely original brand of metal which defies normal categorisation.

ELFFOR is a Basque Country Black Metal band forged by the SUFFERING DOWN credited keyboard player Eol, also holding a tradition with MOORLAND and FROSTFOGG. ELFFOR, a one man project, debuted in September 1998 with the album “Into The Dark Forest…”. “Son Of The Shades” followed in 2003. Musicians from SUFFERING DOWN and NUMEN guested on this outing. ELFFOR released fourth album “The Unblessed Woods” in 2006.

Pagan/Folk Metal band from Rīga, Latvia. Formed in 1995 out of the remains of doom metal band Grindmaster Dead. They released their first demo ‘Semigalls’ Warchant’ in 1997, this one is released full length(three additional songs) in 2005. Most of their songs are about pagan gods, war and warfare, as well as traditional Latvian folk songs and their metal covers. Skyforger mostly plays folk/pagan metal, although their forth album Zobena Dziesma (Swordsong), released in 2003, was a pure folk album.

The Meads of Asphodel are an experimental black metal band with pronounced medieval and Eastern influences from Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.

The band was formed in mid-1998 by Metatron and Jaldaboath (aka James Fogarty of Ewigkeit), the stated aim being to "create heavy guitar-based original Black Metal with Medieval/Eastern influences and a lyrical concept derived from Christ's mortality, Biblical Apocrypha, Fallen Angels and Death."[1] Their demo releases The Bemoaning of Metatron and Metatron and the Red Gleaming Serpent gained them a good deal of critical attention in the underground metal press, even receiving mentions from such mainstream sources as Kerrang! magazine, and they soon signed to Supernal Music after the release of their widely acclaimed final demo The Watchers of Catal Huyuk.

Actualmente tienen mucha mas fama bandas como Ensiferum o Eluveitie, pero grandes bandas como Vintersorg o estos propios Primordial no deben ser apartadas por ser mas complejas. Dos excelentes albumes, un servidor no sabria con cual quedarse...

rimordial is an Irish band founded in the late 1980’s. They play a unique style of heavy metal, which can best be described as a blend of black and folk metal with strong influences from their Irish roots. Their music and lyrics deal with cultural heritage, struggle, melancholy and anger.

Primordial started out as a black metal band with some folk influences with their 1993 demo Dark Romanticism and 1995 debut album Imrama. With the 1998 album A Journey’s End, Primordial underwent a strong stylistic change and delivered an album that was more original, personal and dark than anything they had done before.

Akercocke is a British progressive blackened death metal band. They are well known for their heavily Satanic and sexual lyrical content and for wearing suits when performing live.

The band was formed in 1997 by Jason Mendonca and David Gray. The two had been friends in the past, and played in Salem Orchid until 1992, when that band split up. They soon added second guitarist Paul Scanlan and bassist Peter Theobalds. They self-released their first album, Rape of the Bastard Nazarene, in 1999; after this release met with some success, they were signed to the underground Peaceville Records. Their debut release for the new company was 2001's The Goat of Mendes, previously released on the band's own Goat of Mendes label. 2003 saw the release of Choronzon, on Earache Records.

Temnozor is the name of two bands. Both are from Russia and play black metal. The better known one was formed in 1996 in Obninsk, Russia, to express the pride of its members being Slavic and has released 3 full-length albums. Temnozor started out as a raw black metal band with folk influences, but folk element became stronger throughout their later albums. The lyrics tend towards ancient Russian folklore, paganism, and dislike towards monotheistic traditions.

In the autumn of -94, Kaliban was concieved by Toni Kettunen, Henri Peltola and Mertsi Helppi who realized they were sharing an equal passion to making a lot of aggressive noise. As for most teenage headbangers at the time, it all started with a brutal interpretation of Enter Sandman. It didn´t take long, however, for the eager trio to notice they had capacity and chemistry for more serious things. Active practise and Toni´s and Henri´s awakening songwriting skills led eventually to a demo titled "Celestial Sounds", released July -95. The style was shamelessly rough Death Metal, something all members believed would be their thing to the grave, but the band´s identity was, however, yet to be shaped greatly.

I tried to do it ''blackest I can'', so most of the songs are black metal, with some viking and folk songs. Song I like most in this comp is Manatark's song Spiral Swirls, but all songs are very good.

This is my first compilation, and if there are any ''beginners mistakes'' I hope you will forgive me. xD

The folk metal band WOLFMARE known as WOLFSANGEL before September 2007 was founded in 2002 in St. Petersburg, Russia by ex-members of local metal and folk projects. From the very beginning WOLFMARE was planned to be not only a band to play music but also a kind of performance act. The main language of lyrics is English, but some traditional sacred texts in ancient languages like Latin and old German are also used. WOLFMARE songs are based on both the past and the present. Ashen Light is a black metal band hailing from Russia, Moscow. The group formed in 1997, under the name of Pepel'nyi Svet and is comprised of several former members of the bands: Crystal Abyss, Divizion S-187, Sinful (Rus), Blackcrowned (Rus).

Ashen Light is notable for its well integrated folklore into black metal. The band's music is purposely similar in style and construction to the Second Wave of Norwegian black metal bands of the early 1990s. The lyrical themes reign from Paganism, Ancient Legends, in the bands comencing years, and to latere more Satanism related themes.

In the year 1994 SIEBENBÜRGEN was formed by Marcus Ehlin (guitar, vocals) and Anders Rosdahl (drums).
A couple of months later, Fredrik Brockert (bass) joined the band.
Following the release of their first and self-titled demo tape in 1996, Linus Ekström joined the band on guitar…
During the Halloween weekend of 1996, SIEBENBÜRGEN recorded their second demo, “UNGENTUM PHARELIS”.

The band “SatanaKozel” was founded in 2003 by Vasiliy Kozlov and Nickolay Kuskov. Soon the band grew up and started to rehearse. During the next 5 years the band had been taking part in some gigs and making few demos, which didn’t have wide distribution. The band had changed its members several times during all this time.
SatanaKozel started to record their 1st full-length album in march of 2007, which is called “Rogatiya”. It consists of songs that were made in the very beginning of the band’s existing.

PROFANUM is one of the most inovative and also the most mysterious band in whole Black Metal genere, always standing alone in their own, dark world of sounds. The band was formed in 1993 as a trio including three unique and strange personalities, namely: Geryon, Vlad Ysengrimm and Lord Reyash.
After their first album 'Flowers Of Our Black Misanthropy' black metal influence was reduced and the band decided not to use guitars, bass or any 'typical' metal sound, replacing it with symphonic orchestra instruments like piano and violins.
