Created in late 2003 by David Parks, the vision of DARK FOREST remains
to create an epic style of atmospheric metal fuelled by a connection
with heritage, history and nature.
Parks began the initial writing process in late 2003 with songs such as Among Silent Pine, Warwinds, and Under The Northern Fullmoon. The writing process continued from here until early 2005. A four track demo was arranged and released that summer and titled Demo 2005. It received many positive reviews, and was also hailed one of the most promising demos of that year by reviewers.
Demo 2005 broke out into the Canadian and international metal community in summer 2005 and gained much respect and support with sales reaching from Germany to Japan. Parks continued the writing process and laid the groundwork for the first full-length DARK FOREST album. Interest also grew in Europe during this time and media labeled early DARK FOREST releases as ‘Vinlandic Pagan Black Metal’. With this said, there is no formal genre which Parks wishes to be bound to. March 2006 marked the completion of the writing process for the first full-length album Aurora Borealis. It was self-recorded by Parks in summer 2006 and released in September 2006.

This is a personal request from the band.
Lutece is a french project of black metal, mixed with ambient and pagan sounds. Lutece was born in April 2006, created by Denosdrakkh and Hesgaroth, the former players of the black metal band Dark Requiem. Denosdrakkh plays each instrument, composes all songs and provides backing vocals, while Hesgaroth writes lyrics and provides the lead vocals. Lutece delivers a sound inspired by nature, war events, pagan events, mythology and despise of nowadays society, in France particularly. At the early beginning, it was only supposed to be a side project, without any importance but the involvement of its two members was so determined, that they finally wanted to do something serious, original, and genuine.

Drudkh was formed in 2002 by Roman Saenko, the leading member of Hate Forest; Thurios, the leading member of Astrofaes; and Yuriy Sinitsky, of Lucifugum and Definition Sane. Their strongly folk-influenced music focuses on a dense atmosphere with a lot of feeling, and the lyrical contents embrace Slavic mythology, seasons and poetry. Many of the band's lyrics are derived from the works of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Ukrainian poets, especially Taras Shevchenko.

Azaghal is a Finnish band playing raw black metal. It was formed in 1995 by guitarist Narqath and drummer Kalma (later known as Vrtx and V-Khaoz). Varjoherra joined the horde as a vocalist in 1997. First demo was recorded shortly after that in late 1997. Two more demos ("Noituuden Torni" and "Kristinusko Liekeissä") were recorded in 1998, as well as the debut 7" EP "Harmagedon" which was released by Aftermath Music

This is a personal request from the band itself.
The Munich based german Black/Death/Doom Metal Band "Misanthrop" was raised from the ashes in 2005, in 2008 they released their debut-demo "Das große Sterben". In 2009, one of the first members left the band. In 2011, Misanthrop was finally complete again and released their demo "Promowerk 2011" and the full-length "Unkaputtbar (2011)". After being too long off stage, MISANTHROP had their live comeback in July 2011, which was visited very well with more than 200 fans and friends. They´re looking forward to 2012!

Sear Bliss is a Melodic Black Metal band formed by András Nagy in the autumn of 1993, in Hungary. They are described as a Melodic structures a touch of Atmospheric-based monotones and Carpathian-influenced sound. What separates them between the traditional Hungarian bands is; they strive for a Melodic sound and less appeal to Rawness. The band tries to create an outright original music based on dark elements combined with deep visions presented with sheer brutality - and all enveloped in the softening sound of a trombone, barytone and trumpet and a synthesizer.

Granath has also slightly reshaped the face of the band recently by recruiting a female backing vocalist/lyricist and has personally labeled Cry Of Silence as ‘Heathen Black Metal’ in his newest artwork, & on the band’s site.

Beherit is a black metal band from Finland (Rovaniemi, Lapland). The band was formed in 1989 by Nuclear Holocausto (Marko Laiho), Sodomatic Slaughter (Jari Pirinen) and Demon Fornication, with the purpose of performing “the most primitive, savage, hell-obsessed black metal imaginable”. “Beherit” is the Syriac word for Satan. Through the uncommercial nature of their music, visuals and live performances, the band quickly attracted a cult following. Besides the “raw” sound, the band’s music is noted for its avant-garde side and emphasis on atmosphere. Beherit are now regarded as a pioneer in their genre.

Inquisition (US) is a black metal band based in Seattle, Washington with origins in Colombia where the founder, Dagon, was living at the time. The band was fully realized in 1996 when Dagon left Colombia for the US and met Incubus who joined on drums. This line-up has remained stable for more than ten years. Their sound involves the combination of old school thrash metal, major guitar progressions with the depth and darkness of black metal’s chaotic minor guitar progressions. Dagon’s voice is very monotonous and chant like and does not sound like any voice typically used in black metal. Dagon has expressed that his vocal style is not meant to reflect that of a human, but rather that of an unseen entity in demonic form.
